For Immediate Release

January 31st 2005 : You can never be too rich, or too thin

When the Duchess of Windsor made her famous quote, chances are she never would have guessed that generations of women would go to extreme lengths, risking their health, their self-esteem, and time, to get too thin.

Yet 27% of young men and women aged 15-24 admit to using clinical eating disorders as a weight control measure, and the numbers are steadily rising..

Eating Disorder Awareness Week, EDAW, February 27th - March 5 th 2005 , will be celebrated around the world to raise awareness of the issue and how it impacts the lives of men and women.

At The CEDRIC Centre Eating Disorder Awareness week will be celebrated with a new group. Michelle Morand, Founder and Director of The CEDRIC Centre said, "Our phase I group is for women of all ages who struggle with food and body image issues. There's a misconception out there that only people who have clinical eating disorders should address their issues with food and weight. But if food and weight are an issue for you, if it affects your life in any way, why wait when you can do something about it now?"

The CEDRIC Centre specializes in the treatment of clinical eating disorders, sub-clinical disordered eating patterns, and related issues such as anxiety, depression, and distorted body image. Their registered clinical counselors provide bodywork, group, and individual counselling, as well as community outreach presentations for schools, educators, and health professionals. All of The CEDRIC Centre's counsellors have recovered from an eating disorder, and are proud to have facilitated the recovery of hundreds of men and women in Victoria , BC and beyond.
